WIND-UP TOASTER PASTRY #3 April 1994 (page 40) LIZ CLAYTON, Editor
Not a fuckinrecordreview, but an introduction to the Americans responsible for the MOUNTAIN GOATS and the EXTRA GLENNS. And NOTHING PAINTED BLUE.
- According to their Wikipedia page, “Throughout the 1990s, the Mountain Goats were known for producing low-fidelity home recordings (most famously, on a boom box) and releasing recordings in cassette or vinyl 7” formats. Since 2002, the Mountain Goats have transitioned to a more polished approach, recording studio albums with a full band.”
- Jason Cohen is the author of Zamboni Rodeo (2003), which recounts his travels with the Austin Ice Bats, a minor league hockey team in the Central Hockey League. Amazon reviewer Andy11 wrote, “Cohen found out what Texas Hockey was all about: booze, broken buses, late games, practicing in broken down malls, and potato chips.” The book is reviewed quite favorably at Amazon.
